AI Usage Policy

Last reviewed: 2026-10-13.

Where we use AI

  • Drafting reviews, comparisons, buying guides and "best for" pages from sources it has read: vendor pricing and documentation pages, audit reports, test-lab results and reputable press.
  • Drafting deal listings from a vendor's own pricing or promotion page.
  • Re-checking published pages against their sources and flagging prices and facts that changed.
  • Moderating community review submissions for spam patterns.

Checks every AI draft must pass

  • Every page lists the sources its facts come from. Reviews need at least four; comparisons and guides at least three.
  • Automated checks reject drafts that claim hands-on testing, use placeholder text, invent fields, link outside our site where they should not, or use a score that does not match its sub-scores.
  • Reviews and their scores are published only after the editor reads the draft and its sources and approves it. Until then the review stays unscored and out of search results.
  • Comparisons and "best for" pages publish once they pass the checks and every product they feature has an approved review.
  • Buying guides publish once they pass the checks; the products they suggest appear only if their reviews are approved.
  • Deals stay hidden until the editor confirms the offer on the vendor's page.

What AI never decides

  • Scores: a score publishes only after the editor approves it.
  • Rankings: comparisons, guides and "best for" pages order products by their approved review scores, not by anything a model writes.
  • Testimonials, user reviews or social proof: we never generate them.
  • Testing: we do not use AI to describe hands-on testing we have not performed. Researched reviews say so on the page.

Tools we offer

Our product-finding wizards and comparison tools use deterministic logic over our editorial dataset. AI may be used to interpret free-text requirements, but the underlying recommendations come from our published criteria and approved review scores.

Disclosure

Every page an AI model drafted says so on the page, with the date the editor approved it where approval applies. If you find an error, tell us through the contact page and we will correct it and note the change.
